Keanu Reeves is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood. Born on September 2, 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon, his childhood was quite colorful and not like that of any ordinary person.

Early Life and Family

Reeves grew up shuttling between different cities across the world due to his father's work as a geologist. His parents got divorced when he was just three years old. He has three siblings - an older sister named Kim, a younger sister named Karina, and a half-sister named Emma.

Tragic Events

As a child, Reeves had to face many traumatic events. His family moved from city to city because his mother married multiple times. One of his stepfathers was abusive which led to Keanu and his mother fleeing away from him.

Also, tragedy struck Reeves when he lost two important people in his life - first with the death of his close friend River Phoenix who died at an early age in October 1993, followed by the death of his unborn daughter Ava with girlfriend Jennifer Syme after she delivered stillborn during her eighth month of pregnancy in December 1999.


Reeves attended four high schools before completing his education at Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto where he discovered acting while playing Mercutio role from William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.

Career Beginnings

After pursuing theatre for few years, Keanu Reeves started working on tv shows such as "Hangin' In," "Night Heat," "Woops!" before exploding into mainstream stardom with blockbuster films like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), Speed (1994), The Matrix Trilogy (1999-2003), John Wick franchise (2014-2021).
