Elon Musk is a well-known entrepreneur and engineer who has created a massive impact in the technological industry and beyond. He is the CEO of several major companies including Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company. Elon Musk has an interesting journey which ultimately led him to these great achievements.

Early Life

Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents were Maye and Errol Musk. As a child, he had an interest in technology since his father owned an electronics store where Elon learned how to code by age 12.


After attending elementary school in Pretoria, Elon moved to Canada with his family at age 17. He studied physics and economics at the University of Pennsylvania before transferring to Queen’s School of Business in Kingston.

Career Path

Upon graduating from college, Elon co-founded Zip2 – a web software company aimed at newspapers - which Compaq later purchased for $307 million. With this money he started X.com (now known as PayPal) which further grew his wealth after being sold for over $1 billion.

He later invested that money into creating new businesses such as SpaceX – a company focused on space exploration- , Tesla -electric vehicle manufacturing-, The Boring Company - focused on tunnel infrastructure- among others.

Personal Life

Elon has five children with his former wife Talulah Riley whom he married twice (in 2010 and again four years later). Currently he is dating Canadian musician Claire Boucher professionally known as Grimes.


Overall, Elon's relentless pursuit of innovation along with his ability to execute projects leaves no doubt about the viability of his futuristic ideas. Although not all have been successful - such as SolarCity,- nobody can deny that he puts forth effort into pursuing solutions related mostly on energy conservation while extending the present limits of human knowledge through space exploration.
