Esteban Ocon is a French racing driver who currently competes in Formula One for the Alpine team. Born on September 17, 1996, in Évreux, Normandy, France, he started his racing career at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.
Ocon began his karting career in 2006, and by 2012 he had won several championships including the French F4 Junior Championship. In 2014, he moved up to single-seater racing and became a part of the Lotus Formula 1 team as a development driver.
Road to Formula One
In 2015, Ocon made his debut in the GP3 Series and won it in his rookie season. He then moved up to the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) where he raced for two seasons before being signed as a test driver for Force India's Formula One team. Ocon made his official Formula One debut with Manor Racing in 2016 before moving to Force India (currently known as Racing Point) for two seasons.
Success in F1
In 2020, Ocon was signed by Renault (currently known as Alpine) as their new driver alongside champion Fernando Alonso. He had a consistent season with some impressive performances that helped him finish twelfth overall. However, it was at the Sakhir Grand Prix where Ocon truly displayed his skills by finishing second behind race winner Sergio Perez.
Ocon is trilingual and can speak English, French and Spanish fluently. He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys playing football and basketball when he isn't racing himself.
