Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He first gained recognition for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation before pursuing music full-time.

Early Life

Drake was born in Toronto, Canada to a Jewish mother and an African-American father. His parents divorced when he was five years old and he was raised by his mother in Toronto's Forest Hill neighborhood.

Career Beginnings

In 2006, Drake released his debut mixtape Room for Improvement which received critical acclaim in the underground hip-hop scene. He followed this up with two more mixtapes - Comeback Season (2007) and So Far Gone (2009).
