Damar Hamlin is an American football player who currently plays as a safety for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 18th, 1997.

Early Life and Education

Hamlin attended Central Catholic High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. In his senior year, he recorded 50 tackles, one sack, one interception and returned two kicks for touchdowns. After graduating from high school in 2016, he committed to playing college football at the University of Pittsburgh.

At Pitt, Hamlin played in all four years as a safety and made an immediate impact in his freshman year recording six pass breakups. During his college career he recorded 254 total tackles, five interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Professional Career

Following his successful college career, Hamlin declared for the NFL Draft after completing his senior season. He went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft but signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 14th.

In his rookie year with Carolina Panthers Hamilin mostly played special teams along with some appearances as a backup safety finishing with four tackles throughout twelve games.
